Russian Revolution
What:
The Russian revolution refers to a series of events 1917 which removed the Tsarist autocracy (leader rules absolutely) replacing it with subsequent communist governments and ultimately the USSR in 1922.
Where: Russia
When: February - October 1917
Who: Tsar Nicholas II (1868 - 1918) believed in autocracy (one person rules all), he was replaced in February 1917 by Vladimir Lenin (1870 - 1924) who led the Bolsheviks (communist political party).
Why: Tsar Nicholas III became unpopular due to:
1. Russia being industrialised quickly resulting in low paying jobs and unemployment.
2. World War I went badly. Three Million Russians died.
3. Internal political influences. Communists speaking for lower class bred discontent.
